Today was a nice ride. A little short but it was nice the have a leisurely lunch while waiting to check in.
When I woke this morning a little after 7am I was very happy to see that the coffee shed at the end of the parking lot was serving. The hotel had nothing but tap water and a broken looking soda machine that didn't take cards. I ended up going twice for large coffees. Chatted with the coffee dude until cars pulled up.
I took my coffee to the side of the hotel for some pictures and ended up chatting with a guy having a smoke. He was a tourist from Oklahoma or Iowa and he and his wife were quite enthralled with the mountains and the ocean.
I was on the road about 10 and right off I had to go over the sketchy bridge. It had a narrow sidewalk which I rode.
After that it was a bit of townish riding until Charleston when I started climbing up from the water. This was heavy forest on both side except where the trees had been harvested. There was lumber activity going on here.
After the high point I started to pass a lot of mountain bike crossings. I guess this is a big area for it.
Coming out of the forest I had a short distance on 101. Smooth and nice shoulder but so much traffic. The bridge crossing the Coquille River was not at all bike friendly but fortunately it was not very long.
When I rolled into town I saw there was a bike shop and headed over to get a little bottle of sealant. After that I looked for food and decided on the Mexican place. It was good and I had a couple of beers with my chimichanga.
I checked into my slightly over priced motel at 3. I was tired even though I hadn't gone very far. I think the crash and the vaccines have not helped. Not being fit, also.
At 6 I checked out the docks and took some pictures.
The local sushi place had good ratings and I was tired of fried stuff so I went there. It was a nice change but the rice was a let down. It's always the rice.
There should be some views tomorrow and the weather is supposed to continue to improve.
