We started a little after 8 at the 6am bar. I had been saying that the bartender looked like Danny Aiello but Mike didn't know who that was. Today he saw it. We had 2 tall cafe con leche.
It was late when we got on the road. We started south out of town and after just a kilometer or so Alpha turned into a service station. It had a self service car wash and we washed all of yesterday's mud off Alpha and my bikes for 1€. I will definitely use this regularly.
We continued down the highway to Ermita Nueva turnoff. The climb starts immediately; first through town and into the farmland. Mike was mean to me and made me ride hard up the hill. It was a long climb. At the top RIdeWithGPS says the road is dirt but it is paved but in bad condition. The descent requires a lot of braking and ride on a strip in the middle that is in better condition than the rest.
It felt good to have the nice smooth pavement on the main road. After some up and down we descended into Montefrio. Our bar from the other day was closed and we ended up at the restaurant we had just passed. Our waitress was completely overloaded and seemed to be having a bad day. My order came 15 minutes before Mike and Alpha's. Only it was Mike's order. By the time we knew that I had eating a good part of it. The other two orders came and he took the plate. His order was way better than mine. Alpha had a giant steak.
Lunch was a little longer than intended. But I felt recharged afterwards. I had good juice on the first two climbs but faded a bit in the last one. From there is was a scenic roll down to Alcalá la Real. Amazing views of the valley and the castle.
After stopping for a few beers before heading home, we were done for the evening. We had some snacks for dinner and called it a night.
