At The House Day 20 - Beach Day

Coffee at Danny Aiello's. Mike had 2; I had 3 and the Alpha joined us for two fresh squeezed orange juices.

We took out time heading to the beach.  We were in the car a little after 11 for a 1 hour 45 minute drive to Nerja.  The A44 had a detour at one point and for 10km or so we  on a two lane road.

In Nerja I just followed the traffic looking for a parking lot.  Some signs pointed to parking.  Near the beach was a huge area and we stashed the car there for 1.70€/hour.  Very convenient and reasonable.

We walked to the first beach and Alpha was in for a swim.  Then it was time for lunch and we walked up and down a hill to get to a restaurant Alpha picked.  It must have been good because we had no reservation and they were full.  We chose a place a few doors down.

We were across the street from a much bigger beach and after lunch Alpha was back in the water.  We did warn him that our mother's said you had to wait 30 minutes after eating.

When we headed back to the car we found we had taken the long way around.  There was a path and staircase leading directly to the first beach.  There while taking a picture of the vista some Albanian gangster started yelling at Alpha not to take his picture.  He wasn't taking his picture but the guy kept yelling.  A little later on the boardwalk above the beach I think he realized he had overreacted and tried to make it up a bit by offering to take Alpha's picture.  That may have been a plot to get any pictures of him off Alpha's phone before Interpol was on to him.

The drive back as the evening came on was quite spectacular in the mountains driving away from the ocean.  "Watch the road", Mike nagged.

Back in Alcalá, Alpha took care of some gifts he'd arranged while Mike and I went to Tipi Tapa for some beers and tapas.  We had a fish on toast - pretty good; a tiny hamburger - tasty; and some callos, stewed tripe.  The callos was pretty good.  I would usually choose something else but this was good.  We also ordered a special they had on the board: patatas foster.  It was French fried smothered in cheese and ham.  It was good and I was full.  Time for bed.
