This was a no ride day. I had to meet the lawyer at 10:30am in Alcala la Real which is over and hour and a half drive. I did get an early morning walk around town in.
My impression of this town improves as I found the city center. There are several blocks that are quite cute. My destination was a churro shop that opened at 6am. The churros kept me going until mid afternoon. I will go there tomorrow to start my ride.
Just errands today. Met lawyer. Got a one month parking pass for the city center. The attendant was operating at his limit dealing with the stupid foreigner but we sorted it out. The property is about 100m up the street from the garage and the one month pass is the same cost as three days at the regular rate. Parking on the street in towns is not something foreigners are going to understand. Having the car out of the sun in a garage so close to my place is perfect.
I stopped in at the China Store (I am a little uncomfortable calling it that but the name is actually Bazar China) and got some cheap stuff. They have everything and only the quality is suspect. So much random stuff and so cheap. I will be frequenting the place.
I quite like the Hotel Balneario de Marmolejo in Marmolejo. It worked out well and in the future if I drive from Madrid I would stay here to break up the drive.
After tomorrow's ride I will change location to a place up the mountain from Jaen. There is a nice loop up the mountain, down and around to rail trails into Jaen. The rails trails are similar to the ones I rode on my first ride in Andalusia. The rail trails are not all that well documented but most of the old olive train routes are now trails. A lot of the Caminos follow them. Some are paved. They are nice to ride.
If everything goes to plan I will take possession on Friday. So two nights above Jaen and the a night in Alcala.
