Since there didn't seem like a lot of different cycling options and my Garmin gear was telling me to take a rest day, I decided to walk today and get to know Jaen.
Nice walking and no shortage of hills. In the first 2 kilometers I had two coffee breaks. The second one I was the only old guy of 6 that did not have a snifter of liquor.
Early morning and late evening is when the streets around here really come to life. The whole culture is built around enjoying the cool parts of the day and avoiding the hot parts.
I left for Alcala la Real around noon and drove the way I hadn't yet. It was the main freeway to Granada and Motril and I realized I had driven this 12 or 13 years ago when the whole family went to Spain on Easter break.
In Alcala I park in the underground with my monthly pass and checked into the Hostal Rio de Oro. I have to say this is the best 27€ room I've ever had. I guess many in Colombia would beat it but it's a good deal here.
