Andalusia: Day 15 - Colmenar to La Palma

This is going to be a short one.  I walked in the drizzle to the one bar that was open and had two cafe con leche.  It's kind of amazing how many old guys are doing shots and beers before 9am.

On my way out of the hotel the happy old guy took my key card and asked if I wanted cafe.  Sí!  He gave it to me on the house.

I rode off into the drizzle.  Today would have been such a great ride in better weather.  The first 200m climb took me into the cloud that had been raining on me and turning to mist with about 50 meters of visibility.  There was almost no traffic so it wasn't bad.

Coming down the other side it cleared a bit and I was riding parallel to the freeway.  At one point on a downhill my road took a sharp left to go under the freeway and I had to do a two wheel lock, foot down slide to slow enough to make the turn.

Riding into the town of Villanueva del Rosario I pulled into a bar/restaurant and had a coffee and a sandwich.

As I was going through town my bike computer started acting stupid - probably from the rain - and I couldn't get the map to a resolution where I could see where to go.  I had to stop and pull out my phone.  Getting the phone out while wearing the jacket means partially taking off the jacket.  Fortunately, there was little enough drizzle I could make my phone work.

I arrived in good time to my hotel because who wants to stop and take pictures in the freezing rain.  The town I picked for tonight is much worse than last night's.  There is absolutely nothing here but this hotel - which isn't bad - and a collection of houses.

I walked 1km back the way I came to get some bad food and a few beers.  I'm going to watch a movie tonight.
