Day 5 - Pitolito to San Agustin

I continue to be under the weather, but since San Agustin is only 35km, I rode.  The route is quite flat up to a steep, long climb at the very end.  I decided I would ride to there and catch a taxi to the top.
Once out of Pitalito the scenery became amazing.  I was going slow and enjoying it.
When we reached the big climb Mike and Andy started up while I sat in the cafe at the bottom.  I was hoping they could have a cab sent down from the hotel.

I saw a woman get off a white taxi/truck kind of thing and when one was going my direction I flagged it down.   It was pretty full with people and a motorbike so I thought that's not going to work but the driver ties my bike to the roofrack and the guys in the back slide down and away we go.  We flew up the hill passing Mike and Andy.  The guy beside me spoke some English so we had a disjointed conversation while I filmed some video hoping I would not drop my phone.  I was in a precarious position practically hanging out of the back of a pickup.

At the top I pressed the red button as instructed and was let off.  $COP5,000 and I was the first to the top. KOM!

When the guys got there we went down a dirt road we were afraid to ride to the Hotel Kasama.   It is a very cool place.  Good choice, Leo!  After we cleaned up the owner, Filipe, drove us to town and ate with us at a very good pirilla.  We then headed up to the Archeological Park and walked around even though we have a tour arranged for tomorrow.
Lots or interesting archeology I will talk about tomorrow.
We walked the 3km back to town, bought a few refreshments and caught a cab back to the hotel.  We watched the light fade over the valley from the view platform.  It got kind of cool and we had to put jackets on.  I had no extra clothes as the hotel is washing all our laundry.  (Random guest just walked into my room)
Filipe drove us into town to another restaurant with one of his childhood friends visiting from Canada with his son.  Great dinner and fun conversations.

Archeology tour tomorrow.
