Day 8 - Popayan to Palmira

Last night was interesting.  Just as I was finishing up the last blog the disco 2 doors down fired up. Music blasted until 3am and then all the drunk kids were in the street.  Cars could not get by so they leaned in their horns.  I would not know any of this if I did not have to wake up to deal with GI issues.

Up at 5 and out at 6.

The 900m drop in elevation featured 12 climbs for about 1200m of climbing on the day.  It also went from warm and pleasant to hot, hot, hot.

Dropping in altitude was fun but when we hit the flat, hot, sugar plantations, it became a bit of a grind.  We were all feeling a little suspect in the stomach so we didn't stop much.
Our main stop was for yesterday's fried chicken which way quite good.
We had planned a little bit further for the day but the original target had not much in the way of hotels and all of our bikes needed attantion.  Andy's was grinding gears in most selections.  Mine missed the last service and was really dirty.  They did a great job on the bikes, they look great and the price? $COP15000 ... about $4.

Just before picking up the bikes we had pizza. Mike and I split a large and Andy ate a medium.  The girl came back twice to make sure.  Andy finished his and ours left two pieces for my breakfast.

7:30 and I'm ready for bed.
