Our rooms had a nice view of the river. We went down to breakfast at 8 and two French guests were also there. Our host brought coffee, hot chocolate and a variety of breakfast stuff. This was not a type of accomodation I was used to. This house had 4 bedrooms and a common kitchen and patio. The rooms each had their own bathroom. It was kind of like a mini hotel with no sign.
The day was getting nice as we left. The ride was really nice. Aidan was struggling with the hills. The gearing on his bike didn't let him climb a long hill over 4%. Many were 5-7%. We tried the tow rope again and it worked well. It allowed him to keep moving up the hill. We got pretty good with it by the end of the day. When we saw a steeper hill I would hand him the rope, give him a boost to the top and coil up the rope and stow it the catch up to him. It kept us moving.
We were going to have lunch at a place around 25km but at noon we were at 18km and there was an open restaurant there. We went with the bird in the hand and had lunch. We decided that if the second place was open we would get dessert there.
Somehow after lunch the riding seemed easier and before we knew it we were at the second restaurant. It was open and we got dessert from the very friendly owner. She spoke no English but was fun to communicate with. She took very good care of use and we enjoyed chocolate cake and cream.
The route made some detours around two small lakes but we stayed on the main road and skipped about 5km. As we were on the last 10km we managed to stay ahead of some nasty looking storm clouds. We got a little rain as we pulled into the golf clubhouse bar/restaurant.
Tonight I booked another room at a house and the host was out until 5 but she said we could get stuff at the clubhouse. I had a few beers while we waited an hour.
The rooms are quite nice and we have a lot of space. Since there is nothing nearby she made us dinner. After talking about politics and traveling we headed to bed. I will be asleep in a few minutes.
