France: Day 24 - Autignac to Perpignan

Jennifer and John were great hosts and we had such a brief but great time with them.  Laurie may have had too great of a time and was a little slow today.

We planned a light day fortunately.  A short ride to Beziers and a train the Perpignan.  That would leave us with about 200km and 4 days to get to Barcelona.

We rode along some quiet back roads through vineyards and after 20km we were in Beziers.  We had clear blue skies for the first time in France and it was the warmest day, as well.

We stopped at a little sidewalk cafe near the center of town and had lasagna.  Afterward we walked the bikes to the train station and waited for the train.

The train had the bike racks that you lift the bike up and hook the front tire.  For some reason there were people sitting in the bike area where the bikes swing a bit even though there were tons of open seats.  We took four.

It was getting quite warm in Perpignan.  We had selected a hotel on the south side of Perpignan for an easier escape.  Tomorrow we cross the Pyrenees and go into Spain.  We got ready by having a nap.

I'm looking forward to Spain.  I'm about Frenched out for now.  I like the Spanish food and lifestyle.

Our hotel is in a suburb next to the freeway and the Buffalo Grill is the only restaurant within walking distance.  Buffalo Grill serves American food.  The menu looks like an American cowboy style restaurant but it tastes very French.  I saw BBQ chicken on the menu and had to have it.  It was chicken but the BBQ was barely noticeable.
