France: Day 23 - La Redorte to Autignac

I mapped out today's ride in RideWithGPS and relied on the heat map feature to tell me the best bike roads. The unpaved canal paths were kind getting old so I avoided them for the most part.

The route today was one of the best rides so far in France.  We went from small town to small town with vineyards on either side.  The little towns are always on top of a little hill so you go up and down for each.

Today we were heading to my old high school and university friend Jennifer's house.  We met Jennifer and John in Capestang where we stopped for lunch.

Jennifer and Laurie drove to their place while John and I cycled back.  John has been organizing a weekly cycling ride.  It was a really nice 30km back to their place.

Today was probably the nicest ride of the trip.  Some of this is due to the improving weather.   In general it is getting better but we have also moved into a warmer region.

Jennifer and John have been fantastic hosts and their house is amazing.  They got it over twenty years ago and have been living here full time for two. The town of Autignac is a really cute town and the people are super friendly.

Thursday is clam guy day.  A guy drives into town with a blaring loudspeaker announcing him and making the dogs bark.  Everyone goes to his truck in the main square and gets clams.  John made the best clams for dinner.  That also gave us a lot of wine.
